Savannah Way Site
Savannah Way wanted to convert their existing site into WordPress, we made it happen. The site retained its same (original) design and features, as developed by PDIS, but gained the WordPress CMS and functionality, during its RJ New Designs rebuild.
The new Savannah Way website is completely editable and is also responsive to mobile and desktop devices, compliant with Google’s mobile-friendly update. We fulfilled our brief, completing the work on budget and most importantly, to the satisfaction of our customer.
“The Savannah Way website is a vital source of information for holiday planners travelling through some remote areas. Our organisation recently engaged RJ New Designs to move our website to a new, easy to use WordPress platform and ensure that the site is responsive on all mobile devices. The site can now be browsed easily en route and updated by us as changes to information occur. These are vital features for today’s drive market. RJ New Designs were great to work with – clear communication from scoping through to WordPress training and a fully functional product delivered at a competitive price. This is the second site we’ve worked with RJ New Designs on and we’ll be back for our next job. Thanks Richard and Julie!” – said Russell Boswell, Manager, Savannah Way Ltd.
The new WordPress Savannah Way website is now live.
Is it simple to transform an existing site into WordPress?
Yes and no. It all depends on the website and its features. Savannah Way was a relatively large website, with 54 pages, containing many maps and self-drive itineraries and information.
While transforming the existing website design and content into a WordPress site was easy, the maps required a little extra research and development. We achieved the functionality required by using a custom plug-in that allowed us to create custom driving directions and locations.
What are the benefits of this kind of project?
Firstly, by transforming your existing site into a WordPress site, you are gaining Content Management System functionality. This enables the site owners / editors to add / edit / delete all content, images and resources to and from the site, including its navigation structure.
By making the site responsive, you are ensuring your site communicates with users no matter where they are accessing your information. Mobile searches are always increasing, which is why Google introduced a mobile-friendly update in April this year. A responsive site will improve your rankings with mobile searches.
Should you update your site design at the same time?
It’s up to you and your budget. The Savannah Way website had a strong design and a tight budget. Funds were allocated to the redevelopment, rather than a redesign. But RJ New Designs can do both.
