Daintree Food Trail Wanted To Get On The Map

The Daintree Food Trail is a new initiative, showcasing the people, produce and delicious dining experiences available across the Daintree and Douglas shire. Their new website has been designed and developed to provide an online portal to their offline activities. It includes a member / directory listing which can be filtered / searched according to category and a customised Google map. Get online and then get out exploring.

"I couldn’t be happier with the website you created for the Daintree Food Trail. It is fresh and vibrant and has brought the concept to life perfectly. It’s been a joy to work with you and you have gone above and beyond on every level, from the brilliance of the design and coding to the inspired content and images. On behalf of all our members I thank you – their response has been overwhelming.”

“We LOVED working on this project. They had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve and some beautiful resources, including stunning photography and a clear, crisp logo and branding. At RJ New Designs we’re passionate about our region, its people, produce and businesses. To be able to design and develop a website showcasing all of this, was very exciting.” – Julie Johnston.

At first glance, the new Daintree Food Trail website may appear to be a simple site. Just four pages and some member listings. What you don’t see is the massive amount of custom coding and development that went into making the functionality appear so seamless and easy for the end users.

We’re talking FacetWP integration, Google Maps API coding and the design and development of a customised WordPress website, which enables easy internal updates and maintenance moving forward.

We’re strongly against using industry jargon to explain our processes. So, let’s unpack and explain some of those terms and what it means for this website (and could mean for your website).

FacetWP integration is what we used to enable the search and filter functionality of the member listings and categories. It enables the end user to quickly find the experience they are looking for, be it a tour, a café, farm gate experience or more.

The Google Maps API coding enabled us to add listing / directory information to the map marker, for each participant in the Daintree Food Trail. So click the marker to get a pop-up with text and images, which you can then click through to the individual listing for more information.

At RJ New Designs we don’t use templates. Our coder and developer has spent years learning, mastering and staying abreast of the latest WordPress and industry developments. Our expertise at custom coding enables us to deliver the functionality you want, with an easy back-end.
